Eye Exams at Merrimack Vision Center
Keeping your eyes healthy is our focus at Merrimack Vision Center. When you come in to see our optometrists you’ll get the one-on-one care and attention you need. The only way to ensure your eyes remain healthy is to have regular eye exams. For most people, this means coming in to see our team at least one time a year. During your eye exam, we’ll focus on checking your eye health and vision.
What to Expect During an Eye Exam
Our Southern New Hampshire vision center is geared towards preventative care whenever possible. That means we’ll conduct a number of screenings to ensure your eyes are healthy so we can catch any areas of concern before they worsen. We will diagnose and treat any type of ailments that arise as well. During your eye exam, we will conduct a number of non-invasive tests to determine the health of your eyes, optic nerve, and the surrounding area. It is very important to tell us about any symptoms you have such as blurred vision or pain.
If and when necessary, we’ll offer diagnostic screenings and treatment for a variety of disorders including:
- Diabetic retinal disease
- Macular degeneration
- Optic nerve disorders
- Blurred vision
If you have any special concerns, our team will work with you to ensure you receive the proper treatment and care. This may mean including your medical doctor in some types of treatments.
Vision Screenings in Our Offices
During your eye exam, we’ll also conduct a full vision screening. These are also non-invasive tests and screenings that give us an idea of your eye’s health. Our goal is to pinpoint areas of vision loss or limited vision. Nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and peripheral vision loss are all vision concerns we’ll work with you about. If necessary, we’ll create a prescription for you for glasses or contact lenses.
Do You Need Prescription Contacts or Lenses?
Many of our patients will learn that they need prescription eyeglasses or contact lenses when they visit us. During your eye exam, we’ll evaluate your eyes for the right type of treatment and write a prescription that identifies those needs. If needed, we offer eyeglasses and contact lenses in our offices.
When Should You Come in for an Eye Exam?
As noted, visiting us at least one time a year is recommended for a standard eye exam. If you have any areas of concern or notice any changes in your vision, please call our offices immediately for care. We recommend having children screened routinely as well. Preventative eye care is always important in maintaining the health of your eyes and protecting your vision.
